How it Works

In the Beginning

Your mediators will introduce the parties and discuss how the process will work. Everyone involved in the dispute will have a chance to share their point of view and say what they hope the mediation will accomplish.

Building Consensus

All parties brainstorm and discuss possible solutions that address everyone’s needs.

Defining Issues

Your mediators will facilitate discussion around the conflict to reveal the core problems, underlying needs and concerns of each party.

Writing an Agreement

When agreement is reached, your mediators will help you write down a statement clarifying what it is that both of you have agreed to and articulating the steps you will take moving forward.

Mediation Is

Mediation Is

Confidential

Mediation sessions are private. No one even needs to know that you are engaged in a dispute. In Washington, mediation communications are considered privileged and the people involved can make agreements regarding their needs for confidentiality.

Affordable

Rather than spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on lengthy litigation, mediation can resolve issues at minimal expense. Your first call to us is free. And after that, we can work out payments on a sliding fee scale.

Fast

Mediation sessions can be scheduled within one week of a request. Most sessions last between two to four hours.

Mediators Are

Mediators Are

Experts

CMS mediators are trained experts, skilled in communication and conflict resolution. They will help all parties involved in a dispute work toward an acceptable solution.

Impartial

Mediators listen carefully to understand both sides of the issue. They’ll help you dig into difficult conversations, but they will never take sides or make any decision about the outcome.

Compassionate

Your mediator will understand your concerns, and no matter how complex and challenging the issue, he or she will help you explore options and work toward a satisfying resolution.
